PICKET LINENew World Screwworm · reporting & surveillance

The people who see a wound first now have an instrument.

Photograph a wound, a larva or a fly. Get a triage in under a minute with the cues behind it. Hand off to USDA APHIS or your state animal health official in one tap. Free. English and Spanish. Works offline on the phone apps.

Picket Line gives a triage, not a diagnosis. It never replaces the official report, and nothing here should delay veterinary care.

Apps

iOS and Android apps are in preparation. They add the on-device photo classifier, offline queueing and the node technical package. This web page already takes reports and shows public activity.

Email hello@ai4dat.com to join the TestFlight / Play test group.

1Photograph

Wound, larva close-up, any fly. The app rejects photos it cannot read instead of guessing.

2Triage

Likely · Possible · Unlikely · Cannot tell, with the visual cues that drove the call.

3Hand off

One tap to the official channel with a prefilled report. Your consented report also joins the surveillance map.

Report an observation

If it is Likely or Possible

Contact the official channel now. Collect a few maggots in alcohol if you can, do not wash them away, and follow the veterinarian's instructions on treatment.

A person with a wound should see a clinician. Florida numbers verified; Texas and New Mexico numbers are being verified.

Public activity, last 30 days

Observations, not confirmed cases. Locations are rounded to about 1 km. Confirmed cases are published only by USDA APHIS and state officials. Autonomous Picket Line nodes will appear here as they deploy.

About Picket Line

Picket Line is two layers that share one picture. The first is this reporting instrument for producers, farm workers, hunters and veterinarians. The second is a family of small autonomous trap nodes that count and screen flies, image the ones they catch, check for the fluorescent marker on sterile release flies, and report over cellular or long-range radio from the places people are not. Nodes deploy in clusters on the water, shade and pens the fly seeks, in belts from a border or quarantine picket inland.

Built by 4DAT LLC, Panama City, Florida, and proposed to DARPA under the DoW SBIR program (topic DPA26BZ06-DV024). The node reference design is open hardware so any assembler can build it. Nothing here is a government endorsement. Questions: hello@ai4dat.com.

Privacy: this web page stores no account. A report sends what you typed, the triage, and a rounded location to our server; photos stay on your device in this version. Exact location is shared only when you choose to on the handoff.
